Tool & Die Repair Technician

Compensation: $55,000 to $60,000 Annually
Responsible for maintaining high quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repair, and visual evaluation.
Roles and responsibilities
- Read and understand tooling work orders and follow instructions
- Responsible for the correct disassembly and assembly molds in a safe and timely manner.
- Clean molds and their associated details such as cavities, cores, slides, vents, guide & ejector pins, etc.
- Work to a schedule and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
- Utilize measuring equipment that includes micrometers, calipers, height gage, bore micrometers, etc.
- Assist in the monitoring process to help keep a reasonable component inventory in stock.
- Maintain all tools and equipment that are used including the daily cleaning of tool room machinery; Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
- Assist in maintaining maintenance records on the company computer system.
- Work with Process Engineers to trouble shoot issues with tool or improve on.
- Work on the production floor with tool in press to correct issues and reduce machine down time.
- Work with little or no supervision when given clear direction.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Trade school or some college (preferred, but not required)
- 5 years of hands-on experience in a tool room involving plastic injection mold repair or mold maintenance.
- 3 years of experience using hand operated tool room equipment.
- Prototype tool making and / or Plastic injection processing experience (preferred, but not required)
Skills and requirement
- Good verbal and written communication skills (able to speak, read and write English fluently)
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of mold and die components and their respective characteristics.
- Ability to visually inspect tools with high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to run machines and equipment safely and efficiently
- Ability to read and understand tooling work orders
- Ability to trouble shoot issues and repair.
- Ability to lift 55 pounds.
- Requires excessive walking, bending, standing, climbing, and lifting.
- Requires alertness, precision, and methodical attributes.
- Must be a team player; educate and share ideals when needed.
- Must be able to work in the U.S.
