Mechanical Engineer (Analysis & Validation)
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer (Analysis & Validation) to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing engineering analysis and validation activities to ensure mechanical designs meet structural, thermal, fatigue, safety, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, experience with finite element analysis (FEA), and a passion for delivering reliable, high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced engineering calculations to support mechanical system and equipment designs.
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA), including structural, thermal, fatigue, vibration, and stability assessments.
- Develop analytical models and validate simulation results through hand calculations, testing, and data analysis.
- Establish design criteria, engineering assumptions, and safety factors for new product development.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports documenting methodologies, calculations, results, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Lead technical design reviews and provide recommendations for design optimization and continuous improvement.
- Evaluate designs for compliance with applicable engineering codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate product failures, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support prototype testing and correlate analytical predictions with test results.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to improve product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as needed.
- Review and approve engineering calculations and technical analyses as delegated by the Engineering Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience performing engineering analysis and validation in a manufacturing or product development environment.
- Proficiency with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software and engineering simulation tools.
- Strong knowledge of structural, thermal, fatigue, vibration, and failure analysis.
- Understanding of engineering standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting prototype testing and product validation.
- Knowledge of root cause analysis and reliability engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility is considered an asset.
