Maintenance Mechanic
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our 2nd Shift maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment to ensure efficient and reliable operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, welding and fabrication experience, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and machine-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Research and submit requests for replacement parts, equipment, and maintenance tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Perform pipefitting, fabrication, and welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, Wire Feed) as required.
- Operate machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and various hand tools.
- Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial calipers, indicators, and metric/imperial measuring devices.
- Identify equipment improvements and recommend solutions to enhance reliability, quality, and productivity.
- Communicate maintenance activities and equipment status during shift handovers.
- Assist in training new employees on safe work practices and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment that meets food packaging industry standards.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Machine Repair or Millwright Journeyman Certificate, or documented equivalent experience (approximately 8,000 hours).
- Experience maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Strong knowledge of machine tool operation, including mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, and hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience with preventive maintenance, pipefitting, fabrication, and welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, and Wire Feed).
- Proficient in using precision measuring tools, including micrometers, dial calipers, and indicators.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
