Project Manager

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Industrial Automation to lead the execution of industrial automation and systems integration projects, ranging from single-robot work cells to complex multi-robot assembly and welding systems.

The Project Manager will own projects from inception through customer acceptance, ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements. This role will work closely with customers, engineering, controls, mechanical, robotics, and shop floor teams to coordinate project activities and achieve successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple industrial automation projects from initiation through final customer acceptance.
  • Own project scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, milestones, and risks.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and coordinate resources to meet project milestones.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Communicate project status, progress, risks, issues, and changes to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead and coordinate mechanical, controls, electrical, robotics, and shop floor teams.
  • Coordinate engineering, procurement, fabrication, assembly, controls integration, testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Track project costs, labor hours, materials, and overall financial performance.
  • Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Manage project changes and ensure scope changes are properly documented and communicated.
  • Coordinate FAT, installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance activities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered according to customer specifications, quality standards, timelines, and contractual requirements.
  • Provide regular project updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Resolve project issues and coordinate corrective actions to keep projects on track.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6–10 years of experience in project management within industrial automation, robotics, systems integration, or manufacturing.
  • Proven experience managing automation and systems integration projects from concept through customer acceptance.
  • Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with PLC/controls, industrial robotics, tooling design, automated assembly, and robotic welding systems.
  • Strong knowledge of project budgeting, scheduling, resource planning, and risk management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer-facing and relationship-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of engineering documentation and technical project requirements.
  • Valid G or G2 driver’s license with ability to travel to customer/project sites.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel as required for customer meetings, installation, commissioning, and project acceptance.
